ABOUT THE LIBRARY
The Public Library houses over 1.2 million items and serves over 300,000 community residents in the region through its locations in downtown Chattanooga, Hixson, Brainerd, Ooltewah/Collegedale and South Chattanooga.
The Downtown Library has research materials, popular fiction, magazines and journals, DVDs, books on CD and more. The regional and genealogical collection features more than 5,200 online historical photographs and an exclusive Cherokee Heritage collection. There are Spanish language materials for adults and children; and as a part of the Federal Depository Library Program, the library serves as a selective depository for the 3rd Congressional District of Tennessee. The Library offers computer access at all locations and software programs including Microsoft Office and a variety of online databases, as well as children’s educational and interactive programs. The downtown location offers wireless Internet access and full passport services. There are fax and notary services in most locations.
